Kerry was in the mood to play "dress up" recently. For her this does not usually involve any actual wardrobe change...she just throws on a few accessories and a pair of fancy shoes.  She had also recently noticed these two jewelry boxes sitting in the top of my closet, so I decided to get them down for her.  These two boxes belonged to my paternal Grandmother and Great-Grandmother and contain all of their vintage costume jewelry..many of  the pieces I remember so vividly being worn by them.

Kerrys eyes widened in amazement when I opened the boxes and let her examine the contents.

She ooohed and awed over each bracelet, brooch and clip-on earring and was thrilled when I told her she could try them on.

Very quickly she found something that really caught her eye.  It was a large purplish intaglio cameo pendant.

but to Kerry it looked exactly like the Amulet of Avalor.  And to this huge "Sofia the First" fan..this pendant was a big deal.

She spent the rest of the afternoon gazing at it and pretending that it held special powers.

But she did decide to take some time out for "tea".  Because in Kerry's opinion a good dress up is always followed by tea.  Or at least Kool-Aid in a teapot.

And should end with a Magic Show.

What a lovely way to spend some time....I would have loved a good look through those boxes too as jewellry is my passion! I think its wonderful you have all those sentimental pieces from your ancestors Gin :)

BTW, have you noticed that we are going private soon? I still have your email address so I will be "adding you on" later in the week.

Hope you guys are all well :)

Haha... and end with a majic show!! Love it!!

I've seen that Sofia movie advertised every time I go onto itunes. Not sure what Lilah would think of it, since she is all about Cars and other non-girly things, like Alvin and the Chipmunks! ;) That costume jewellery is something else, I can just imagine the size of her eyes when you opened those boxes!!
