Kerry was in the mood to play "dress up" recently. For her this does not usually involve any actual wardrobe change...she just throws on a few accessories and a pair of fancy shoes.  She had also recently noticed these two jewelry boxes sitting in the top of my closet, so I decided to get them down for her.  These two boxes belonged to my paternal Grandmother and Great-Grandmother and contain all of their vintage costume jewelry..many of  the pieces I remember so vividly being worn by them.

Kerrys eyes widened in amazement when I opened the boxes and let her examine the contents.

She ooohed and awed over each bracelet, brooch and clip-on earring and was thrilled when I told her she could try them on.

Very quickly she found something that really caught her eye.  It was a large purplish intaglio cameo pendant.

but to Kerry it looked exactly like the Amulet of Avalor.  And to this huge "Sofia the First" fan..this pendant was a big deal.

She spent the rest of the afternoon gazing at it and pretending that it held special powers.

But she did decide to take some time out for "tea".  Because in Kerry's opinion a good dress up is always followed by tea.  Or at least Kool-Aid in a teapot.

And should end with a Magic Show.

Xin Nian Kuai Le!

It's the Year of the Snake!  And a certain little someone has been having a great time celebrating.  We attended our local FCC CNY celebration yesterday, and she was excited to get to wear her "Chinese Dress" to church this morning, too.

It was obvious that she was feeling pretty special in her dress.  I think it had something to do with all of the compliments she got.

We think she's pretty special  no matter what she's wearing.

I just wish she would smile a little more ; )

On another note..I can't wait until the weather warms up.  I'm getting a little tired of seeing that sofa in all of my shots.

This girl can be so full of silliness!

Don't get me wrong, she can be as serious and business-like as all get out when it comes to some things.  She's even been known to be downright crabby at times.   But when she's feeling silly, it shows!

She gets super giggly, which I love, and she turns into a regular little Charlie Chaplin..taking some crazy little prat-falls.

I love that she has such a sense of humor and "fun" to balance out her more serious side.

This has translated into some pretty funny things that have rolled off of that cute little tongue of hers this week.

She was playing in the indoor play area at McDonalds earlier this week and for a while it was just her and four other little girls about her age, one of which she knew from Mothers Day Out.  A little later several little boys showed up and a while after that Kerry came out looking kind of miffed and said "I've had ENOUGH boy time!'

Yesterday she said "Mommy, did you know that when things go wrong, it's a " tasterpy"?!

And the best one of this week is from a couple of nights ago.  She calls her family and friends her "special" people.  Well she ended her bedtime prayer by saying, "and God bless everyone that's special.....but NOT solicitors."

I love my brainy, zany girl!
